The completion of an economic development analysis of Carson City and Douglas and Lyon counties has prompted the Northern Nevada Development Authority to schedule special meetings in those areas to present the findings.
Policom Corp. was commissioned by the NNDA, Western Nevada Community College and local governments to conduct the analysis.
Policom's study was to evaluate the economic condition of the three counties, determine the causes of those conditions and offer suggestions on how to maintain or improve the "economic quality of life" for area residents, according to NNDA Executive Director Kris Holt.
The one-hour presentations at next week's meetings will examine the composition, history and trends of the economies of the three counties in great detail, Holt said.
The presentations will replace the monthly NNDA breakfast meeting, which otherwise would have taken place Sept. 27.
The meetings will be:
- Carson City, 7:30 a.m. Thursday breakfast at the Pinon Plaza resort, $20 per person.
- Douglas County, noon Thursday luncheon at the Carson Valley Inn in Minden, $20 per person.
- Lyon County, 9 a.m. Friday breakfast at Casino West in Yerington, $15 per person.
Reservations for the Carson City and Douglas county presentations may be made by calling NNDA at 775-883-4413. Reservations for the Lyon County presentation can be made by calling the Lyon County Development Authority at 775-463-2245.
