LAS VEGAS - A 25-year-old man was killed after being shot at least twice early Friday in a bar parking lot on the city's east side, Las Vegas police said.

The shooting occurred just before 4:30 a.m. after two groups confronted each other in the El Potrero parking lot over possible gang affiliations, police said.

The victim was taken to University Medical Center where police said he died a short time later.

The shooting victim's friends confronted a suspect with a gun in front of a nearby grocery store. A friend of the victim wrestled the gun away from the suspect and beat the suspect with it.

Sergio Hernandez, 22, was booked into the Clark County Detention Center on murder charges after being treated and released from UMC, police said.

The name of the victim is being withheld pending notification of family.

It was second shooting at the El Potrero within the past year.
