The Galena boys basketball team more than made up for a slow start by shutting out Wooster in the second quarter on its way to a 70-37 win.
Galena led Wooster 10-7 after one quarter and went on to outscore the Colts 16-0 in the second period to take a 26-7 halftime lead. The Grizzlies went on to take a 50-19 lead after three quarters.
"We started out playing tight for whatever reasons," Galena assistant coach Rick Garcia said. "We put more pressure on them and they had more trouble with the pressure. The kids stepped it up."
Garcia also said it was encouraging to see the Grizzlies pick up where they left off in the third quarter.
Galena had a balanced scoring attack, with Mark Cofer scoring 14 points to lead the way. Sam Sikes scored 12 points, Joe Heaton had 10 points, Justin Fike scored nine points and Travis Williams added six points for the Grizzlies.
