Hunting festival begins Friday

The second annual "Wings Over The Valley" Hunting Festival and Wildlife Carving Show is set to begin Friday morning in Fallon.


The festival will run through Sunday.


It will be held at the Fallon Convention Center at 100 Campus Way in Fallon.


Included in the three days of activities are such things as:


-- A Wildlife Carving Show ($5 general admission).


-- Various vendor booths.


-- Falcon demonstrations.


-- Retriever dog demonstrations.


-- Hunting skills workshop.


-- Cooking over campfire.


-- Fly casting demonstrations.


-- Fly tying demonstrations.


-- Outdoor displays.


-- A Ducks Unlimited duck and goose calling contest ($10 entry fee).


-- Hunter Education Course ($5 registration fee).


Other festival activities include:


-- A tour of the Stillwater wetlands.


-- A tour of Carson Lake.


-- A bluegrass musical concert on Saturday night by "The Back Forty" (Free).


-- Kiwanis Club Pancake Breakfast ($5 per person).


-- A Lion's Club Chili Feed ($4 per bowl).


All hunting seminars, displays, workshops and demonstrations are free of charge.


Festival hours are:


Friday: 3-8 p.m.


Saturday: 9 a.m.-9 p.m.


Sunday 8 a.m.-3 p.m.
