Carson-Tahoe Hospital and Mr. Ira Andersen are again trying to change the existing residential zoning of the field off Mountain Street to office or public zoning.
All homes on the perimeter of this field were bought in good faith with the understanding that the field was residentially zoned for family homes. If and when the field was to be developed, it was only to be for single residential dwellings.
The hospital is attempting to change the zoning, enabling them to build multiple two-story buildings with a 420 or 500 space parking lot. We will be very sorry to see the wetlands and animal life disappear, because saving them is not being offered as an option or priority.
Carson-Tahoe Hospital has a master plan for development for long-term growth in an area referred to as the Super Block. The hospital devised this plan and should stick with it; growth should be contained within the Super Block parameters.
The Andersen field is residentially zoned. The zoning should not be overturned. A change to public zoning would violate the integrity of our neighborhood. Carson-Tahoe Hospital's voracious appetite for land should not be allowed to overturn existing residential zoning at the expense of our neighborhood home values and quality of life.
