Letter: Protect historical, natural resources

Yesterday evening, I heard an NPR radio feature about the long-term, complex plan to restore the Gettysburg battlefield in Pennsylvania to approximate its condition at the time of the Civil War battle.

Will Nevadans realize in time that precious historical and natural resources, for instance the Black Rock Desert, its Immigrant Trail and surrounding pristine wilderness, can be preserved now if we work to pass the National Conservation Area bill of Senator Bryan's? Restoration will be impossible if mining and geothermal development occur, and both threats are real possibilities.

Governor Guinn and Senatorial candidates Bernstein and Ensign, please demonstrate your farsightedness by publicly endorsing S. 2273 with no mining and geothermal exemptions.
