Once again I write a few lines hoping you will print them in the informative Appeal. At nearly 93 years of age, I may miss the next Fourth of July so I feel your readers will be interested in my article.

The Carson Plaza Retirement Center where I reside had a stirring recognition of the Fourth of July, Independence Day. We gathered at our flagpole where the old flag was lowered to Taps played by our resident Don Brook, trumpeter. Than a new flag was raised and our resident group sang "She's a Grand Old Flag." Mr. Brook played several patriotic songs and marches. Peggy, a co-manager, sang the beautiful "God Bless America" as we joined her in singing.

Robert Ruthford, one of our managers, rendered a very poignant story calling attention to the great opportunities we who live here have the chance to acquire. All in all, the gathering enjoyed the celebration that lightened our hearts for the moment.
