Ann Conlin of the Carson Tigersharks masters swim team won her age group at the Florida Ironman Triathlon Saturday in Panama City Beach, Fla.
Conlin, 40, won 40-44 age bracket and qualified for the 2001 national ironman championships in Hawaii next October. Conlin finished her first ironman triathlon in a time of 10 hours, 46 minutes and 8 seconds under conditions that were made challenging because of high humidity.
Her time for the 2.4-mile swim was 63 minutes. She was 5 hours, 45 minutes for the 112-mile cycling leg and 3:51 for the 26.2-mile marathon run.
Scott Robertson of Carson City and the Tigersharks finished 14th in the men's 44-44 age group in a time of 10 hours, 18 minutes. He missed the cut for Hawaii by three minutes.
A third Carson City triathlete, 52-year-old Patrick Cameron, finished the race in a time of 14 hours, 12 minutes.
More than 1,800 triathletes from around the world competed for $25,000 in prize money at the Florida Ironman.
