Locals in Reno-Tahoe Open qualifier

Three local golfers are participating in the Reno-Tahoe Open qualifier being held today at Red Hawk Golf Club in Sparks. Michael Browning, Matt LaPorte, and Thomas J. Duncan, all of Carson City, will be competing against 152 other golfers from around the West for the right to play in the RTO August 24-27 at Montreux Country Club.

The top four golfers from the event will qualify for Nevada's only PGA Tour event. There will two alternates chosen, just in case any of the first four aren't able to compete.

The second annual RTO at Montreux will feature some of golf's more celebrated figures including last year's champ Notah Begay III, 20-year-old sensation Sergio Garcia, and former PGA Championship and British Open winner John Daly.
