Memberships open for concert group

It's never too late to become a member of the Capital Community Concert Association. Though our membership drive takes place primarily in the summer, we would welcome more people who are interested in quality performances based on musical entertainment and contracted through TRAWICK, Artists Management, Productions, Community Concerts in New York City. The Carson City Concerts are held in the Carson City Community Center at 7:30 p.m. CCCA is a nonprofit organization.

The association is proud to have engaged the following four concerts for Carson City this year, 2000/2001.

Oct. 21, 2000, Firebird - a dynamic Russian Balalaika ensemble which includes four instrumentalists, a tenor and two Russian dancers.

Nov. 30, 2000, Rhythm Brothers - a swinging jazz group who will give you lots of hot pickings and smooth singing along with plenty of laughs and showmanship. They are great at a rousing Bluegrass piece for a change of pace.

March 3, 2001, Earl Rose Plus Three - accompanied by a bass, cello and drums, Earl Rose presents a program of movie music from the Golden Age of Cinema to the melodies of Henry Mancini and Burt Bacharach.

April 20, 2001, Chrisiana Pegoraro - classical pianist acclaimed as one of the most promising young talents of her generation. She has performed throughout the Untied States, South America and Australia since the age of 10.

Besides these wonderful concerts in Carson City, a membership in the Capital Community Concert Association, under a reciprocity agreement, makes it possible to attend on a space available basis the outstanding concerts contracted by the Washoe County Concerts Association which are held at the Pioneer Theater in Reno.

Sept. 25, 2000, Black Mountain Male Chorus of Wales - ensemble of 32 brings the earthy, boisterous, yet gentle power of Welsh choral music to the audience with unbridled excitement.

Nov. 20, 2000 - Dale Gonyea - songwriter, pianist, comedian, proclaimed "heir to the piano-comedy throne" and "Classic Comedian of the Year."

Jan. 13, 2001, Rodrick Dixon tenor with a beautiful voice and a flair for acting and dancing. His program encompasses the repertoire of opera, music theater, operetta and contemporary works.

Feb. 22, 2001, Gus Giordano Jazz Dance Chicago - company of 10 spirited, energetic, showy, witty dancers with an engaging repertoire that is highly entertaining to audiences of all ages.

April 9, 2001, Proteus 7 - ensemble of seven woodwinds, brass and percussion that performs on Broadway, records for television and film and can be heard in major concert halls around the world.

Membership in the association is $40 adults, $20 students (children), $90 family. Memberships include attendance at all four Carson City concerts as well as five concerts in Reno. Checks may be sent to Capital Community Concert Association, P. O. Box 3057, Carson City 89702-3057. Please include your name, address and phone number. Memberships will be sent out Sept. 12 or just as soon as they are received by the membership chairman.
