An attempted robbery, including threats at gunpoint directed at three small children, resulted in the arrest of three men in Carson City.

Jose Garcia-Lopez, 34, Juan Silverio Garcia, 32 and Alfonso Segura Ramirez, 19, are suspected of forcing entry to the home of a jewelry store-owner at 3:40 a.m. Sunday by breaking out a bathroom window.

Inside the home in the 400 block of East Long Street, the assailants rounded up six adults and three children and "demanded at gunpoint cash and gold from the victims," reports indicate.

When the victims stated that there were no valuables in the house, Garcia-Lopez allegedly knocked a man unconscious to the floor by hitting him with the butt of his pistol. A round discharged during the melee, hitting the ceiling.

The three men then allegedly stood over all the victims "screaming at them that they would kill everyone, including the children, if they did not give up the jewelry from the jewelry store," the report states. Garcia then reportedly started ransacking the house.

Several neighbors reported hearing the gunshot, and when deputies arrived a woman ran outside with the children. She, along with two other men, told deputies in broken English that the men were still inside the home.

When deputies entered the house, the men were all reportedly lying on couches "pretending to sleep," the report states. They told deputies that they had stopped by to sleep, while the battery victim - later treated at Carson-Tahoe Hospital - lay on the floor in front of them with a spot of blood next to his mouth.

A search of the suspects revealed gold rings in one man's pocket and two gold chains in another man's pocket. Three guns were reportedly found under the cushions of the couch.

The woman also told investigators that she heard a gunshot at the time the bathroom window was broken. Chief Deputy Scott Burau said the department has not been able to confirm whether there was a shot fired prior to the shot inside the home.

All three men were charged with suspicion of robbery with a gun, home invasion with a deadly weapon and first-degree kidnapping. Garcia-Lopez was charged additionally with robbery with a deadly weapon. The men were held in lieu of $100,000 each.
