LAS VEGAS - Nevada Highway Patrol troopers are investigating the Sunday death of a California woman who lost control of her motorcycle, veered across U.S. Highway 95 and was struck by a car.

Trooper Alan Davidson said the woman, whose name will be released after notification of relatives, was riding alongside her fiance, who was on a separate motorcycle.

The San Jose couple had agreed to exit the freeway, Davidson said. As the woman drove in the exit lane, she possibly struck something, causing her to lose control of the motorcycle. She crossed three lanes and was struck by a car in the far left lane.

Traffic on southbound U.S. 95 was backed up for more than two hours.
