Obituary: Dr. Ronald Lee Willis

A private family service is planned for Dr. Ronald Lee Willis, Ed.D., 65, of Claremore, Okla. Dr. Willis died Sunday, Oct. 29, 2000.

Services are by Stephens Memorial Chapel, Pryor, Okla.

Dr. Willis was born June 26, 1935, in Liberal, Kansas. He was a U.S. Navy veteran, serving during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Carson City, the American Legion, and the Elks Lodge in Claremore, Okla.

He married Donna Cowherd on March 11, 1986, in Lake Havasau, Ariz. He received his doctoral degree from the University of Nevada, Reno. He retired from the U.S. Public Health Service in 1994, where he was on the medical staff at Phoenix Indian Hospital in Phoenix, Ariz.

During his professional years, he worked as a clinical psychologist with Indian families and handicapped children. Dr. Willis enjoyed boating, reading, camping and listening to music.

Dr. Willis is survived by his wife Donna; three daughters, RaDona and Miriah of Claremore, Jeri and husband Mark Irwin of Colorado Springs, and Debra of

Little Rock, Arkansas; one son, Randy of Gardnerville; one step-daughter, Kris Nemann of New Richmond, Ohio; three step-sons, Steve, Jon, and Mark Peugh of Prescott, Ariz.; his mother and step-father, Evalena and Jim McConnell of Springdale, Ark.; one brother, Jim Willis and wife Kathy of Springdale; 16 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, three nieces and one nephew. He was preceded in death by his father, Charles Willis, daughter Robin Willis Stewart, and brother David Willis.
