Obituary: George Edward Merson Jr.

George Edward Merson Jr. 68, a Carson City resident for the past 10 years, died Oct. 3, 2000 at Carson-Tahoe Hospital. He was born March 3, 1932, in Hawthorne, Calif. to George and Grace Merson.

Mr. Merson was a talented musician and a professional bass singer. He was a veteran of the Korean War, an avid traveler, a trivia fan and he enjoyed watching sports of all kinds.

He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and a member of the church choir.

Among his survivors are his wife, Carolyn; sons George E. III of Sacramento, Calif. and Brian J. of Garden Valley, Calif.; daughters Bethine Merson Taylor of Sacramento and Susie Merson Williamson of Irving, Texas and eight grandchildren.

Mr. Merson will be cremated and a private ceremony held by his family.

Memorial contributions may be made to the building fund of the First Presbyterian Church of Carson City.
