Kenneth Lee Van Arsdale, 87, a Carson City resident for the past 10 years, died Sept. 1, 2000, at Carson-Tahoe Hospital. He was born Aug. 13, 1913, in Illinois, to Thomas and Mary Elizabeth Van Arsdale.
Before moving to Carson City, he lived in Vacaville, Calif.
Mr. Van Arsdale worked in civil service for 20 years and retired as Fire Chief at Travis Air Force Base. He served in the U.S. Air Force for 20 years, retiring with the rank of Senior Master Sgt.
Among his survivors are his wife Mary Jean of Carson City; daughter Kim Starble of Minden; brother, Clyde of Washington; niece Marilyn Van Cleave of Myrtle Creek, Ore.; two grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Inurnment will be at Northern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Fernley.
Cremation will be at FitzHenry's Crematory.
FitzHenry's Funeral Home and Crematory is in charge of arrangements.
