Michael "Frenchie" Cerula, 75, a Minden and Carson City area resident for the past 21 years, died Oct. 28, 2000, at Carson Healthcare Center.
He was born Feb. 27, 1925, in Czechoslovakia to Michael Sr. and Mary Kandravy Cerula.
Before moving to the area, he lived in Los Angeles for 22 years, moving from Montreal, Quebec, Canada.
Mr. Cerula was employed by the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department for 25 years and as a correctional officer for the state of Nevada for 20 years. He was active in live theater and he was a culinary chef. He was a member of St. Teresa of Avila Catholic Church.
He served in the U.S. Army for two years during the Korean Conflict.
He was preceded in death by his wife Elaine in 1993.
Among his survivors are his daughters Lisa J. Larkin of Minden and Cara A. Collins of Carson City; sisters, Ann Cerula and Mary Bartos, and brother John, all of Montreal and four grandchildren.
A private family memorial service will be at a later date.
Cremation will be at FitzHenry's Crematory.
