Shirley W. Hardt, 83, a Carson City resident for the past 15 years, died Nov. 14, 2000, at Nevada Cares. She was born Jan. 27, 1917, in Des Moines, Iowa, to Harry L. and June Z. Calvert Wilson.
She graduated from Valley High School in Des Moines with the class of '34.
Before moving to Carson City, she lived at South Lake Tahoe.
She married Joseph James Hardt in 1936 in Southern California. He preceded her in death.
Mrs. Hardt and her husband owned a thriving antique business in Hollywood, Calif. in the '40s. They also owned a furniture manufacturing business where they manufactured Early American reproductions. In 1944, they built a motel at South Lake Tahoe. Eventually she became a head cashier at Harrah's at South Lake Tahoe. She enjoyed interior design, her cats and dogs and had many cherished pets over the years.
Among her survivors are her son Christopher of Carson City; daughters Sondra Mayron and Susan Phelps, both of Southern California; sister Ann Sansberry of Pasadena, Calif.; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
No service will be held in Nevada.
Cremation will be at FitzHenry's Crematory.
FitzHenry's Funeral Home and Crematory is in charge of arrangements.
