Q-Tip: Inyo and Mono to close

This week's "Q-Tip" is a gentle reminder that as winter approaches, there are a number of things happening in the fishing world in this general area.

Anglers, who like to fish in the State of California, are reminded of an up-coming, annual closure.

If you are one of those anglers, be advised that all of the open, applicable waters in both Inyo and Mono Counties, will close to fishing for the 2000 calendar year, at sunset on Tuesday.

Mono County begins at the Nevada-California stateline at Topaz Lake, extends west to the crest of the Sierra Nevada and continues south until it meets Inyo County. Those two counties basically comprise the eastern slope of the Sierra Nevada.

Those Inyo and Mono fishing waters include such popular destinations as the East Walker River, the West Walker River, the Little Walker River, Bridgeport Reservoir, Kirman (Carmen) Lake, Upper and Lower Twin Lakes, Robinson Creek, Buckeye Creek, the Virginia Lakes Area, Lundy Lake, the June Lake Loop (Grant, Gull, June and Silver Lakes), Rush Creek, Convict Lake, Convict Creek, the Mammoth Lakes area (George, Mamie, Mary and Twin Lakes), Crowley Lake, South Lake, North Lake, Sabrina Lake, Bishop Creek, etc.

Once they close, those waters in Inyo and Mono Counties will not re-open to fishing until the last Saturday in April.

So, if you would like one last chance to fish your favorite location in either Inyo or Mono County for 2000, you had better hurry, because you are rapidly running out of time.

You only have six days left. So, don't delay!

Give those waters one last try because it is a long time until the last Saturday in April!

Anglers are also reminded that when fishing in the State of California, they must wear their fishing license above the waist, where it is readily visible.
