The fourth edition of the Nevada Wildlife Record Book is now available.
The book, which is widely recognized as a bible for Nevada trophy big game hunters, costs $35 plus $5 (shipping and handling).
The Nevada Wildlife Record Book is published every five years and is a perfect Christmas gift for the outdoor enthusiast.
The book has been complied by the Nevada Wildlife Record Book Committee consisting of:
Ted Wehking of Reno, John Capurro of Reno, Tom Cavin of Carson City, Victor Clark of Verdi, Tim Humes of Sparks, Tom Lammel of Fallon, Gerry Lent of Reno and San Stiver of Reno.
The committee's current edition includes over 100 color photographs and 25 never-published stories of various Nevada big game hunts. The book contains nearly 2,000 records, including Boone and Crockett scores, of Nevada big game trophies.
Those trophies consist of:
-- Pronghorn antelope (The No. 1 buck (18 4/8 inches X 18 4/8 inches) scored 93 2/8 Boone and Crockett points and was taken in Humboldt County by Todd Jaksick).
-- Typical buck mule deer (the No. 1 buck (6X5 points) scored 205 4/8 points and was taken at Bristol Spring in Lincoln County by Erich Burkhard).
-- Non-typical buck mule deer (The No. 1 buck (21X21 points) scored 325 6/8 points and was taken in Stoneburger Basin of Nye County by Clifton Fauria).
-- Typical bull Rocky Mountain elk (The No. 1 bull (6X7 points) scored 425 3/8 points and was taken at Table Mountain in Nye County by Jerry McKeon).
-- Non-typical bull Rocky Mountain elk (The No. 1 bull (7X9 points) scored 414 4/8 points and was taken in the Schell Creek Range in White Pine County by James Cook).
-- California bighorn sheep (The No. 1 ram (36 4/8 inches X 37 4/8 inches) scored 175 4/8 inches and was taken in Eight Mile Canyon in Humboldt County by Dennis Zubieta). Note: The No. 1-2-3-4 sheep were all taken in Eight Mile Canyon.
-- Desert bighorn sheep (The No. 1 ram (41 0/8 inches X 40 2/8 inches) scored 187 2/8 points and was taken at Gass Peak in Clark County by Michael Boyce).
-- Rocky Mountain bighorn sheep (The No. 1 ram (38 2/8 inches X 38 0/8 inches) scored 182 6/8 points and was taken in the Ruby Mountains of Elko County by Lenni DePaoli).
-- Rocky Mountain goat (The No. 1 billie (11 2/8 inches X 11 0/8 inches) scored 54 0/0 points and was taken in the Ruby Mountains of Elko County by Dennis Zubieta).
-- Mountain lion (The No. 1 tom scored 15 9/16 points and was taken in the Ruby Mountains in Elko County by Joel Brown).
The record book also includes original artwork from Nevada wildlife artist Chris Lacey, including paintings of the new No. 1 Nevada Rocky Mountain bull elk and pronghorn antelope.
This fourth edition is dedicated to the memory of Wayne Capurro, who died in September, 1999. He was an original member of the record book committee.
