Cap. Steve Mitchell of The Salvation Army in Carson City and Douglas County has announced that the annual Red Kettle campaign will be staffed by volunteers this holiday season for the second year.
The Salvation Army is recruiting volunteer bell ringers, encouraging businesses, service groups and clubs to use this opportunity to celebrate the holidays and give back to the community. The group donating the most hours will be awarded the annual Bell Ringer Award.
In years past, the Carson City Salvation Army has paid a stipend to all kettle workers. This holiday season, it will use volunteer bell ringers in order to keep more of the donated dollars.
The Red Kettle campaign is under way and the need for volunteers is great. For information, call 887-9120.
