Many people during their lives will need to call an ambulance in an emergency. But when trauma occurs, individuals shouldn't have to think twice about calling a paramedic ambulance because of the cost involved.

The Regional Emergency Medical Services Authority's Silver Saver program is designed to assist in reduction of out-of-pocket expenses for medically necessary paramedic ambulance services.

Through the Silver Saver program, members and their entire household are covered from additional expenses for ground ambulance transportation that may not be covered by an insurance policy.

Silver Saver membership does not cover the services of Care Flight, the emergency medical helicopter service operated by REMSA.

For $49, members and their entire household are covered for one year. Enrollment in REMSA's Silver Saver program will close on Dec. 31 with the full one-year membership lasting through Dec. 31, 2001.

Call REMSA at 858-5757.
