Reward offered for information on teller machine robber

A $1,000 reward is being offered for information about the man who robbed the Greater Nevada Credit Union teller machine on East Second Street.

Secret Witness is offering the reward in the Aug. 17 robbery.

According to the Carson City Sheriff's Department a man approached two credit union employees as they were working on the automatic teller.

The man demanded the machine's canisters from the workers and told them not to press any buttons.

The man, described as black, in his mid-20s, about 6-feet tall, weighing 165 pounds and wearing a dark blue sweatshirt and shiny black running sweatpants, then made his escape south down an alley.

The robbery occurred before the credit union was open. According to the sheriff's department, he obtained a large amount of money, all in $20 bills during the robbery.

Sheriff's investigators are asking anyone with information to call 887-2020, ext. 1402, Secret Witness at 322-4900 or the Secret Witness Hispanic Hotline at 721-7727.

All calls to Secret Witness are anonymous.
