Riley swims for Syracuse

Carson High graduate Dustin Riley is ready to pick up where he left off during his senior season this year for the Syracuse men's swim team.


Riley stood out at the U.S. Olympic trials in August where he posted a time of four minutes, 40.44 seconds in the heats of the 400-meter individual medley.


Last season as a junior, Riley placed second in the Big East in the 400-yard I.M. with a time of 3:55.85.


Riley also scored points in the Big East for Syracuse when he placed sixth in the 200 breaststroke (2:04.85) and seventh in the 200 butterfly (1:51.39). In addition, Riley competed in the 400 I.M. in the U.S. Senior Nationals.


Last season he was a Big East Academic All-Star and named to the athletic director's honor roll during the fall and spring semesters.


During his sophomore year, he placed fourth in the 400 I.M. (3:58.91) in the Big East, placed eighth in the 200 butterfly and was Syracuse's second best swimmer in the breaststroke.


As a freshman, Riley was Big East runner-up in the 400 I.M. (3:57.33), finished fourth in the 200 breaststroke and seventh in the 200 I.M. and competed in the U.S. Nationals in the 200 breaststroke and 400 I.M.
