Silverstate Health Testing and Sceening to offer tests at Smith's in Carson City

Silverstate Health Testing & Screening, in cooperation with Smith's Food & Drug Stores, will be at Smith's in Carson City Monday through Thursday from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Screenings of carotid arteries (check for plaque buildup, the major cause of stroke); abdomen aorta (check for enlargement-aneurysm), kidneys (check for stones and cysts), liver (cysts and abnormalities), gallbladder (check for stones) and osteoporosis (bone density) will be performed. Total cost for the screenings is $125.

The diagnostic ultrasound screening takes about 15 minutes and is non-invasive and completely painless. The astronauts took this same equipment with them on the space shuttle. The osteoporosis equipment has been approved by Medicare and the FDA.
