Stabbing victim arrested

David Ortiz-Monroy, 23, the victim of a stabbing Tuesday, was arrested Wednesday after his discharge from Washoe Medical Center where he was treated for wounds to the head, shoulder and chest.

During the investigation of the stabbing, deputies discovered Ortiz-Monroy was wanted on several Carson City warrants. He was arrested for investigation on two counts of domestic violence, three warrants for suspicion of failing to appear in court after a citation and two counts of failing to appear after posting bail.

He is being held in lieu of $27,435 bail.

Leon Arrellano-Pacheco, 47, was arrested for suspicion of attempted murder after police arrived at the scene of the stabbing.

According to witness accounts, Arrellano-Pacheco and Ortiz-Monroy got into an argument at 3:20 p.m. Tuesday at an apartment at 1247 Woodside Drive. Arrellano-Pacheco allegedly pulled out a pocket knife and stabbed Ortiz-Monroy before he fled into a nearby apartment.

Arrellano-Pacheco was ordered held in lieu of $75,000 bail.
