Trophy rainbows at Caples Lake

Bob Anderson, executive director for the Alpine County Chamber of Commerce, has announced that Alpine County will be stocking a special plant of 1,000 pounds of trophy rainbow trout this weekend.

They will be planted in Caples Lake, which lies along Calif. S.R. 88, between Kit Carson Pass and the Kirkwood Ski area. The lake is 50 miles south of Carson City via U.S. 395, Nevada S.R. 88 and Calif. S.R. 88.

Those rainbow trout will weigh 1-6 pounds each.
