Business hours will give way to tourism hours in December at the Carson City Visitors Center.
The visitors center at 1900 S. Carson St. will open on weekends possibly starting the first weekend in December. The hours probably will be 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The visitors center is in the same building shared by the Carson City Area Chamber of Commerce and the Carson City Convention and Visitors' Bureau.
The two organizations agreed Monday to shared operation of the visitors center, which is a chamber of commerce facility.
The chamber operates the center Monday to Friday, principally to serve relocating businesses but also assisting visitors. The visitors bureau a few months ago wondered out loud why the center wasn't open when the most visitors were in town.
The chamber offered to let the visitors bureau operate the center on weekends. The visitors bureau will operate the center on weekends and chosen holidays.
