The University of Nevada women's basketball team has been predicted to finish fifth in the Western Athletic Conference preseason polls announced Thursday.

Nevada didn't earn a first place vote in collecting 38 points. The Wolf Pack returns all five starters from last season's squad that went 19-10 and won the Big West Eastern Division crown.

Southern Methodist led the field of nine teams with six first place votes and 61 points. Hawaii finished second with 51 points and one first place vote, while Texas Christian finished in third with 47 points and one first place vote.

Rice received the remaining first place vote and 44 points to finish fourth. Teams following Nevada were Tulsa (31 points), Fresno State (29 points), UTEP (14 points) and San Jose State (nine points).

The Wolf Pack will kick off their exhibition schedule when it hosts NWBL Elite at 2 p.m. Nov. 5 at the Lawlor Events Center.
