Actress Halle Berry to wed jazz musician

LOS ANGELES - Actress Halle Berry plans to marry musician Eric Benet, according to the television show ''Entertainment Tonight.''

Berry, 31, and Benet will wed next year, the TV magazine reported. A spokesman for the actress did not immediately return a phone message seeking comment Tuesday.

The couple met while celebrating the premiere of Berry's HBO movie ''Introducing Dorothy Dandridge'' about the first black woman nominated for an Academy Award as best actress. Berry has been nominated for a Golden Globe for her role as Dandridge.

Berry divorced Cleveland Indians outfielder David Justice in 1996.

The actress, whose movie credits include ''Bullworth,'' ''Why Do Fools Fall In Love,'' and ''Boomerang,'' divorced Cleveland Indians outfielder David Justice in 1996.

Benet's first album, ''True to Myself,'' was released in 1996 and he has had such hits as ''Spend My Life With You.''
