Each year The Governor's Tourism Development Awards are presented to new or existing businesses which have created tourism-related jobs through an expansion or new construction.
The Children's Museum of Northern Nevada was awarded this honor for the addition of an Americans with Disabilities Act-approved elevator which has allowed the 3,500 square foot lower level of the historic civic auditorium to be used for exhibits and classes for the public. This has provided an area for "Live Science" exhibits, special events and traveling shows. Six new jobs were created.
Suzi Meehan, executive director, traveled to Las Vegas to receive this award.
