After a two-hour deliberation, a Carson City jury found a 37-year-old Texas man guilty Wednesday of two charges of sexual assault upon a child.
Donald Edward Philippi Jr. could serve as little as five years or as long as two consecutive life sentences in prison for sexually assaulting a child under the age of 16.
Philippi was found not guilty of a third charge of statutory sexual seduction. He is scheduled to be sentenced in Carson City District Court Jan. 11.
Prosecuting attorney Derek Dreiling said the emotional trial was a good victory for the state.
"There was a lot of evidence against him," he said. "It was emotional for both sets of families."
Philippi denied the charges in June.
The criminal information filed against Philippi alleged multiple violations between 1994 and 1997 for each offense. The offenses took place on Cinnabar Avenue.
