The Sierra District of the California State Park System is offering a guided hike on Sunday to the top of Red Lake Peak.
John Fremont is reported to have been the first white man to have seen Lake Tahoe from the top of that peak.
The Sunday hike is rated as "Moderate to difficult" with a duration of about 5-6 hours.
Hikers are requested to meet at 10 a.m. at the parking area at Kit Carson Pass on California S.R. 88.

Bring lunch, camera, sunscreen, warm layered clothing for variable weather conditions, good hiking boots and plenty of water.
Pets are not allowed.
There is no charge for the hike.
