FORT COLLINS, Colo. - Jody Carlsen placed 37th in a field of 114 runners to help the University of Nevada finish 12th as a team at the NCAA Mountain Region Cross Country Meet on Saturday.
Carlsen, a junior from Carson City, completed the 5,000-meter course at Colindale Country Club in a time of 18 minutes, 26.98 seconds. Carlsen ran one second slower than her 10th-place performance at the Big West Championships two weeks ago in Rocklin, Calif.
Nevada scored 310 points to finish 12th as a team, 36 points shy of cracking the top 10. Brigham Young captured the team title with 20 points and Colorado's Kara Wheeler won the race in 16:39.40.
Maribah Abiedu was Nevada's second finisher with a 47th-place effort of 18:40.
Nevada Swimming
LAS VEGAS - It was twice as nice for the Nevada swimming and diving team on Friday, as the Wolf Pack earned a dual meet sweep over BYU and UNLV.
The Wolf Pack defeated the Cougars 130-112 and UNLV 127-109 to win its first two dual meets of the season. In its only other meet of the season, Nevada finished second at the eight-team Pacific Invitational.
Nevada swimmers and divers won nine of the 12 events contested and also took the top two spots in three of those events.
Three Wolf Pack swimmers also made the NCAA "B" cuts. Those swimmers included Jia Lin Sun, Limin Liu, and the relay team of Terina Cook, Laura Bartle, Sun and Liu.
The team's next meet is at the Cal Swimming and Diving Meet in Berkeley, Calif. on Friday.
