SPARKS - Carson High School's boys squeaked by Sparks 60-59 in the Nugget Rail City Tournament at Reed High on Wednesday night after squandering a 15-point lead going into the final quarter.

Carson's lead quickly diminished after Sparks rallied to score 30 points in the fourth quarter on the strength of nine 3-point goals.

"We thought we had the game wrapped up, when they (Sparks) started dropping threes" Carson coach Tom Andreasen said.

Carson's Cody Longero led all players with 19 points and went 11-of-14 from the free-throw line. He also had eight rebounds.

Vincent Reymus scored 14 points and scored the Senators' only 3-point goal, while senior forward Lee Biddlecome added 12 points. Matt Leck contributed eight.

Carson will take on either Lowry or Bishop, Calif., in the final day of the tournament at 3 p.m. today at Reed High School.
