The Carson High varsity basketball teams are set to make their final tune ups for the upcoming division season tonight when the teams host the Reed Raiders.

Tonight's games mark the start of the "triple-header" schedule for the Senators, with the boys junior varsity, girls varsity and boys varsity playing consecutive games. The schedule tonight - and for the remainder of the season - will have the boys junior varsity playing at 3:45 p.m., the girls varsity will tip off at 5:15 p.m., and the boys varsity will begin at 7 p.m.

The other Senator teams will also be in action on the road while the varsity is at home. For the rest of the season, the boys freshmen games will start at 3:45 p.m., the girls freshman team will play at 5:15 p.m., and the girls junior varsity game will tip off at 7 p.m.

Tonight's contest promises to be a close battle. The Reed varsity boys, coached by former Carson High player Paul Gray, enter tonight's game with a 9-7 record. The Senators, who open division play at Reno on Friday, have compiled an 8-6 preseason record.

The Raider girls enter play tonight with a 6-7 record, while the Senators are 13-3 and are likely to be the No. 1-ranked 4A team in the state when the media rankings are released this week. Carson was ranked No. 2 in Nevada last week, but defeated No. 1-ranked Galena in the State Farm Tournament at McQueen High.
