The future of Dayton Valley Days may be decided at a meeting at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Dayton Community Center on Pike Street.

The five-member Dayton Valley Days committee in recent months has given strong indication that the annual September event would not return unless another group took over the event.

The Dayton Area Chamber of Commerce, the Kiwanis Club of Dayton Township and the Dayton Valley Lyons Club showed interest in possibly sharing responsibility.

The upcoming meeting could determine how the celebration will pass from the committee to a new organizing group. Following last year's Dayton Valley Days, several committee members claimed burn-out after putting on the growing event since 1989 with decreasing volunteer help.

Dayton Valley Days is the largest event in Dayton, showcasing the historic downtown that dates to the 1860s.
