Amy Ayoub will be the first woman to serve on the Nevada State Athletic Commission.

Ayoub replaces Dr. James Nave, who retired from the commission after 11 years.

"Amy Ayoub will do a great job and she is living proof that women are breaking stereotypes in athletic fields every day," said Guinn.

Ayoub is a lifelong Las Vegas resident who owns a business development and public affairs company.

She said she has been attending boxing matches since her grandfather began taking her when she was just seven. She has seen more than 400 professional bouts.

She has also received the Las Vegas Chamber of Commerce Circle of Excellence Award, the President's Silver Award for outstanding dedication to the University of Nevada, Reno. And she was recently named a Community Hero by the National Conference for Community and Justice.
