PLEASANTON, Calif. - Evan Fischer won three events in the 17-18 boys' category to highlight a strong Carson Tigersharks showing at the Far Western Championships on Friday afternoon.
Fischer raced to victories in the 200-yard butterfly (1 minute 56.86, seconds), 200 individual medley (1:56.31) and 200 breaststroke (2:09.02).
Lauren Costella took home a pair of first-place finishes as well in the 15-16 girls. She won the 200 fly in 2:07.10, then won the 1000 freestyle in 20:01.47.
Justin Barber took second in the 15-16 boys' 200 fly, finishing in 1:58.14. Ryan Costella was eighth in that event in 2:02.79.
In Thursday's results, Ryan Hudson, Justin Barber and Lauren Costella all took home first-place finishes.
Barber was first in the 15-16 boys' 1650 free, while Costella won the girls' event in 16:38.53. Hudson was first in the 17-18 boys' 1650 free in 16:32.36, followed by Ryan Costella in 16:36.31
The event, which draws about 1,800 swimmers, continues today and wraps up Sunday.
