Fishing report for week of 02/09

BLUE LAKES (UPPER AND LOWER): No report.

BOCA RESERVOIR: No report.

CAPLES LAKE: No report.

DAVIS LAKE: No report.

EAGLE LAKE: No report.

FRENCHMAN RESERVOIR: The road to the dam was open. The ice on the lake in that area was not safe for ice fishing. The road around the lake was still not accessible. Fishing conditions were not great.

INDIAN CREEK RESERVOIR: No report.

PYRAMID LAKE: Gillys Sporting Goods Store in Sparks reported, "The shore angling has been fair for the last several days. The fish have apparently moved out into deep water. The boats are absolutely "tattooing" the cutthroats. Lots of fish but no monsters. The boaters are trolling at about 25-40 feet deep with Flatfish, Apex or Tor-P-Do lures."9

RED LAKE: No report.

SACRAMENTO RIVER: No report.

SILVER LAKE: No report.

STAMPEDE RESERVOIR: No report.

LAKE TAHOE - North Shore: Mickey Daniels of Mickey's Big Mack Charters of Carnelian Bay said, "When the wind does not blow, we have been catching easy limits of average sized Mackinaw trout, up to 5-6 pounds. I've been fishing in 250-450 feet of water, very early in the morning, in front of the Carnelian Bay-Kings Beach area. We're trolling Herring Dodger flasher blades with either pearl-colored Apex lures or live minnows.

LAKE TAHOE - South Shore: Mike Nielsen of the Tahoe Topliners at South Lake Tahoe checked in with the following, "We've been catching the fish in shallower water. Toplining has produced some nice rainbows and German browns, up to 3-4 pounds. We've also picked up an occasional Mackinaw, up to 4 pounds. The best action has been with frog-pattern Flatfish lures, either trolled by themselves or behind a sliver-colored flasher blade.

The best areas have been along the "Blue Line" where the depth drops from 20 to 40 feet."

TOPAZ LAKE: Chuck Fields of the Topaz Lake Marina reported, "Boaters are still catching limits. Shore fishing is a lot slower."

The boaters were trolling in the middle of the lake in the top 5 feet of water with Rapala lures. The largest trout caught from a boat last week was 3 pounds.

Shore fishermen were fishing all day to catch 3-4 fish.

Jed Jarek caught a 3-pound, 13-ounce Eagle Lake rainbow trout from shore at the north end with a nightcrawler and marshmallows.

A 4-pounder caught from shore at the south end was the largest trout of the week.

WALKER LAKE: No report.
