FRENCHMAN RESERVOIR: Wiggin's Trading Post at Chilcoot, Calif., gave this report, "Our weather, snow, sleet and rain, has played a big factor in our fishing. Not too many have been brave enough to go further than the dam. Some fellows from Loyalton found some open water "somewhere" beyond the middle area of the reservoir. They caught limits of 2.5-5 pound rainbows on worms and Power Bait this past weekend."

INDIAN CREEK RESERVOIR: No report.

PYRAMID LAKE: The Gilly Sportings Goods Store in Sparks gave this weekly report, "The fishing at Pyramid Lake is red hot fishing now, especially for fly fishermen. They are catching big numbers of fish and those fish are big. The biggest are running up to 35 inches in length. The best fly fishing areas have been on the north and south ends of "The Nets." The flycasters were using all different colors of Woolly Bugger flies.

Last weekend, four fly fishermen standing in a row each had a 25-inch fish on, all at the same time.

Boats were still doing good with various colors of Flatfish, Kwikfish, Apex and Tor-P-Do lures, anywhere from 40 feet deep to the surface. They have also had success with a Tor-P-Do lure together with a Woolly Bugger teaser.

Shore spincasters have been scoring with Tor-P-Do lures. They have had their best success in the Spider Point, Pelican Point, Cattleguard, Blockhouse areas.

RED LAKE: No report.

SACRAMENTO RIVER: No report.

SILVER LAKE: No report.

STAMPEDE RESERVOIR: No report.

LAKE TAHOE - North Shore: Mickey Daniels of Mickey's Big Mack Charters of Carnelian Bay checked in with this report, "We've been catching limits of average sized Mackinaw trout, up to about 6 pounds, when we can get out on the lake. I've been fishing in 250-450 feet of water, very early in the morning, in front of Carnelian Bay-Kings Beach. My clients are trolling with Herring Dodger flasher blades with pearl-colored Apex lures or live minnows."

LAKE TAHOE - South Shore: Mike Nielsen of the Tahoe Topliners at South Lake Tahoe, Calif. reported that toplining for rainbows and German browns has slowed down. However, Mackinaw fishing has remained very good. Last week, he said that his clients caught nine Macks in the 4-7 pound class. They were trolling 60 feet deep in front of the Shore Shore area. They were using silver-colored flasher blades with minnows.

TOPAZ LAKE: On Monday morning, Linda Fields of the Topaz Lake Marina said, "We've got a couple of inches of snow on the ground and it's still snowing. We've got a group here from Auburn and Roseville, Calif., having a private derby. They are doing their annual "male bonding thing."

She reported that the trollers were still catching rainbows, up to 2 pounds. They were trolling with either Rapala or Needlefish lures. The shore fishing remains slow.

WALKER LAKE: Bob Tompkins of the Gun and Tackle Store in Hawthorne said, "Dee Mitchell of Hawthorne picked up a 7-pound cutthroat on a large, chrome-colored Apex lure last week. The boat fishing has remained slow but the shore fishing has picked up. The best shore fishing has been from Barlow's to the "Buoy Line" and they have been using Power Bait."

EAST WALKER RIVER: Tompkins also reported that fishermen fishing in the "Elbow" area have been catching German brown trout, up to 1-2 pounds. They have been using Mepps spinners or Panther-Martin lures. Those fishermen have reported that the water level has been very low.

WILDHORSE RESERVOIR: Dennis Dunn of the Wildhorse Resort reported, "The weather has been pretty darn good. We've got 8 inches of snow, 20 inches of ice and the weather has been down to only about 0 degrees at night. The big fish last week was a 5.2 pound German brown taken on worms. The perch fishing is still great. If you come up here to fish for perch, be sure to bring a 5-gallon bucket to hold them."
