CARSON CITY - Former Gov. Bob List, who lived most of his life in northern Nevada, has moved to Las Vegas with his new consulting business.
''The business climate down here is so dynamic and it's probably the most exciting place in the country right now,'' said List, whose clients include gambling, construction, energy, manufacturing, real estate, electronics and mining interests.
''There is a broad spectrum and they all have dealings with government,'' added List, whose 16 years in government service included two terms as attorney general and one term as governor, from 1979 to 1983.
After leaving office, he went into private law practice, and in 1993 became corporate counsel and senior vice president of Boomtown Inc., a hotel-casino company with properties in Reno and Las Vegas.
After the 1997 merger of Boomtown into Hollywood Park Inc., List continued as a company consultant but started his own firm.
The former Republican governor is still involved in political activities. He's helping John Ensign's U.S. Senate campaign, and is on the letterhead of a group proposing a constitutional ban on gay marriages.
