Saturday is Free Fishing Day in Nevada and California.

That's right, free fishing on that day in both states.

So if you've been wanting to fish in either Nevada or California but haven't done so for any number of reasons, Saturday will be your golden opportunity to fish wherever you desire.

And you can do so in Nevada, California or even in both states on that same day at absolutely no cost to you.

There is no need to have a fishing license on Free Fishing Day.

However, be advised that you will need to abide by all of the regular rules and regulations that govern whatever water(s) you will be fishing. So don't go fishing and be tempted to do something illegal. If you do, the "friendly old game warden" may not be too friendly and it could be a very expensive experience.

Nevada lawmakers adopted legislation back in 1987 creating our state's first Free Fishing Day. That first day was held on June 11, 1988. And it has been a memorable experience every since.

To insure that your free fishing day will be a memorable experience, the California Department of Fish and Game, various California Counties and the Nevada Division of Wildlife have been busy as bees planting thousands of trout into many of their waters.

So, there are all kinds of places for you and your family to have fun on Free Fishing Day.

Just pick one or more of those choices, load everyone into the family vehicle and then go enjoy a day of free fishing.

Most importantly, no matter where you decide to go fishing, plan to spend Saturday enjoying one of America's top three most popular outdoor sports (the other two are swimming and bicycling).

You can do it absolutely free for the entire day.

Just remember to obey the rules and regulations.

Have fun and good luck.
