The public is invited to a free program entitled "Snowbound Streamliner" Wednesday May 10 at the Nevada State Railroad Museum The illustrated talk by noted author Robert Church will begin at 7 p.m.
"Management made the decision to dispatch the luxury train City of San Francisco into a raging blizzard late in the morning of Jan. 13, 1952," writes Church in his new book "Snowbound Streamliner." Thus began the first act in a drama which Church calls "...a three-day epic rescue that is not duplicated in the annals of railroad history."
The Friends of the Nevada State Railroad Museum present a free educational program the second Wednesday of each month. Upcoming talks will include an update on the museum's restoration efforts. On Wednesday nights in July and August, the museum shows movies outside in the park.
