WASHINGTON - Rep. Jim Gibbons, R-Nev., a member of the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence, is joining Australian and New Zealand delegates this week to discuss security measures between the three countries.
"In order to continue to protect our national interests, it is imperative that we continue to solidify our security and intelligence relationships with key countries," Gibbons said.
"The cookie-cutter Cold War threats of yesterday are long gone," he said. "But in their place are more lethal and disruptive challenges that threaten our way of life every day. The United States must make certain that we stay ahead of the game when dealing with these challenges, like terrorism, narcotics, weapons of mass destruction and other transnational issues."
He said this was great opportunity to see and discuss firsthand global intelligence.
A previous new release from Gibbons indicated he would be on a statewide tour of Nevada, but the "mobile office outreach" will instead involve only his staff.
