Governor hands out candy on Sunday

The Governor and Mrs. Guinn will hand out candy to trick-or-treaters on Halloween, from 5-9 p.m., Sunday. Mrs. Guinn and some of her staff recently completed decorating the mansion for Halloween.

Carson City will celebrate Halloween this year on Sunday. Douglas and Lyon counties celebrates Saturday.

--The Children's Museum of Northern Nevada, 813 N. Carson St., is hosting its seventh Trick or Treat Town from from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Friday through Sunday. Children get in for $2 and adults are free.

-- Carson High School's Ghost Train. Kids ride on the train at Mills Park and are treated to freaky sites. The train rolls from 5:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. today through Saturday. Kids 16 and under cost $3 and adults are $5. Groups of 10 or more will receive $1 off per person. Money benefits the Carson High School drama department. For information, call 885-6331.

-- The Ormsby House's Haunted House of Horror II features 33 rooms on the adult side. The children's side has nine rooms.

The house of horror is open from 6 p.m. to midnight, Friday and Saturday, and from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m Sunday. Costs are $5 for children and $10 for adults. Proceeds benefit local charities.

-- Douglas County's The Record-Courier hosts Trick or Treat Safety Street from 4 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Saturday at the CVIC Hall on Esmerelda Street. Each child is $2 and adults get in free. Proceeds will benefit the Douglas County Sheriff's Department D.A.R.E. program.
