Breathtaking landscapes, rural scenes, portraits, and a number of photos that could only be taken in Nevada will be on display when the "Great Nevada Picture Hunt" lands at the Western Nevada Community College Nov. 15-Dec. 17.

The works of WNCC Carson City art faculty and community education art instructors will also be on display. The public is invited to a reception in honor of the artists 5-7 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 18, at the gallery.

The Picture Hunt is a long-running feature of Nevada Magazine. This year's winner, R.A. Griffiths of Las Vegas, stood on the playa of the Black Rock Desert and waited for the exact moment to take a photo capturing the essence of the state's wide-open spaces. In addition to "Black Rock Desert, End of the Line," Griffiths also won Best Scenic with "Cinnamon Tops," taken at Valley of Fire.

The other half of the exhibit will feature the works of full-time and part-time WNCC faculty members, along with pieces by instructors from the WNCC community education program. Sixteen participants will show paintings, drawing and pottery. The gallery is in the Bristlecone Building, which is open from 8 a.m.-8 p.m., weekdays and 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturdays.
