More than 45 volunteers planted 360 Jeffrey pine seedlings and completed other work at Spooner Lake State Park.
"It was a really great day," said Richard VanDyke of the American Evergreen Foundation. "We got everything done that we needed to do. We planted about 360 trees, native Jeffrey pine. Besides that we did some sensitive habitat restoration."
American Evergreen Foundation is a Carson City-based organization that takes children from a variety of Northern Nevada boys & girls clubs, teaches them environmental stewardship, and has them complete environmental work.
In addition to the foundation's Junior Rangers, adults from Reno, Carson City and Lake Tahoe joined the effort Saturday at the East Shore park.
"It was a real good mix of volunteers," VanDyke said.
Another event is planned for Nov. 13 at a different Tahoe Basin location. Information about that or about the American Evergreen Foundation is available by calling (775) 841-5553 or accessing the World Wide Web: www.usagreen.org
