CARSON CITY - An inmate was stabbed in the face and neck Tuesday during fighting that involved seven Nevada State Prison convicts.
The stabbed inmate, who wasn't named, was taken to Washoe Medical Center in Reno where he was reported in stable condition. The other inmates were treated for minor injuries and locked down in their cells.
Prison spokesman Glen Whorton said two handmade weapons were found and additional searches will be conducted for more weapons.
He added no motive for the fighting has been determined. Two separate fights broke out in different areas at about the same time.
