Nearly three dozen employers will be interviewing applicants and some will be hiring on the spot at today's June Job Fest at the Carson City Community Center.
Job seekers can meet with several potential employers during the free 1-7 p.m. event.
"The job fest is a partnership between these employers and the TCAN (Tahoe-Carson Area Newspapers) classified ad department to give the employers' job openings more exposure," TCAN classified manager Janet Geary said.
"This year, with the unemployment rate so low, they're having to compete harder to hire the right people. We're trying to do everything we can to help our advertisers. This is the third year we've held the job fest and we expect it to continue."
The event will have 35 booths from employers looking for local workers, she said. Participants range from local manufacturers and casinos to national banks, health care firms and temporary employment agencies.
"We will also be using the fest to kick off our new monthly publication, The Job Market, which will carry the job listings from all the TCAN papers and be distributed in the Reno, Tahoe and Carson Valley areas," Geary said. "The listings will also be featured on Tahoe.com."
Among the employers signed up for the June Job Fest are: Northstar/Lakeland Resorts, CGI, Trex, Chromalloy, Harrah's, Harvey's, Wells Fargo Bank, Les Schwab Tires, Embassy Vacation Suites, Capital City Entertainment, Army National Guard, Carson Valley Inn, Laughlin Associates, Taco Bell, Kelly Services, KRLT Radio, Teleperformance USA, The Ridge Tahoe, David Walley's Resort, Nevada Auto Test Center, Incline Village General Improvement District, Geneva Health Services, New York Life, Manpower, Carson Nugget, TRW, Horizon Casino Resort, Sierra Convalescent Center and Glenbrook Golf Club.
