Assemblywoman Ellen Koivisto, D-Las Vegas, will run for a third term in office.
She is a member of the Health and Human Services, Education and Judiciary committees and is chairing the interim Legislative Committee on Health Care between sessions.
She said her priorities are senior citizens, children and the disabled. She sponsored legislation to increase penalties for crimes on school property during her first session.
She said she is planning legislation to prohibit courts from charging to issue protective orders. She said many times people do not have the money to pay a filing fee when they need to file for a protective order in cases of domestic abuse.
Koivisto represents District 14 in Las Vegas.
